5 new Canva tools that will change your independent business
Exciting news, Canva has just announced some brand new features. As an independent business owner there’s five key takeaways you need to know about which can help you elevate your business - AND save you time - and it’s not just about designing your socials! Missed the keynote on 30th October 2025? Here’s everything you need to know.
1. Video 2.0
Ever been using Canva and struggled to grapple with elements on different layers and accidentally editing the wrong thing? We’ve all been there and it’s a huge time absorber! The great news is Canva’s video 2.0 has clearly defined different layers for different elements, that stay on screen at all times, meaning no more fiddling about trying to make the right layer appear. This will speed up the video editing process and also mean you are able to add more complex layers. The video designer has had a major upgrade meaning video editing is even more intuitive.
2. Web tools
Did you know you can design your independent business’s website on Canva? Perhaps one of the lesser known of its arsenal of tools, Canva’s web editor is pretty good and very responsive for mobile. As ever you’ll have all the lovely fonts and designs at your fingertips to make use of. As a business owner this can be super handy as you’ll likely have many of your social designs and branding already sitting in Canva so this removes the step of having to get them over to another website design platform.
3. Web forms
It’s now easier than ever to capture information from your audiences through the use of digital web forms. Want to know something? Create a form and ask! Getting to know your audience and what they want and what they think of your business is one of the best ways you can create a connection with them.
4. Email design
What all independent business owners have been waiting for, the ability to design business newsletters in Canva. Like the website designer, this is perfect for those of you that already have everything sitting in Canva like videos, imagery and branding and will lead to a much more consistent look.
5. AI
OK we can’t finish without talking about AI. Canva already have some great in-built AI features (and have collaborated with some top AI providers!) for your video and image editing including voice-generator if you don’t want to read those social scripts yourself.
Now you have the ability to use AI to help figure out so much more. We’ve all been there, looking through the element section on Canva trying to find different imagery that works together, all while trying to make it fit a beautiful template we might have found. But now you can use Canva’s in-built AI generator to go to that same section and generate the exact template you want it to design through a simple prompt! Meaning you will have joined up fonts, colours and designs.
If you design any kind of resources for your business such as menus, leaflets, downloadable PDFs, this will change your life! Make your brand even stronger and save you a huge amount of time.
You can also now ‘Ask Canva’ - basically your new creative partner who can help you out in any design. It is bespoke to your design and as easy as ABC.
